About us

Hi, my name is Denise Pardo, my husband John and I are the owners of Tumbling Tykes.  I am a licensed speech language pathologist and mother of five young children!  I have worked for 12 years as a speech pathologist serving infants and children from birth to five years of age. It has always been my dream to own a company like Tumbling Tykes where children can grow and learn in a healthy, secure, loving and nurturing environment.  It is my goal to provide the community with a high quality child enrichment center and ensure the individual needs of each child in our programs are met through developmentally appropriate, educationally rich activities.

I want Tumbling Tykes to be a family friendly atmosphere where children can feel safe and secure to discover the world around them. Developing self-confidence at an early age is vital to a child's success.  Since it is known that children learn best through play, my goal is to provide an environment where that can happen.  While it may seem your child is playing just for fun, your child is actually learning.  Playing uses all of your child's senses making it a natural way for a child to learn.  Sensory awareness is important to a growing child.  You can build your child's self-confidence, self-esteem, focus their attention and improve their language and motor skills by interacting with them both at home and in the "real world."  Our nursery school program provides a stimulating and academically rich curriculum to give your child the best start to their educational career. Our birthday parties and summer camp continue to be a fun, exciting, stimulating as well as educational experience for all involved.  I am very excited to share my experiences with you all!

I hope your experience at Tumbling Tykes is a pleasant one. If for any reason it is not, we want to hear about it. Your feedback is critical to our success.

Our Teachers

2 YEAR OLD CLASS- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Mornings
Miss Angela:
Angela Muller

Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, Minor Educational Psychology SUNY Oneonta 1987

Experience: Over the past 36 years my life has centered around working with children in a wide variety of ways. I started babysitting at age 13 and went on to work at a day camp during the summers from 1985-1990. I worked as a camp counselor and as the Arts and Crafts Director for the preschool program at Maplewood Camp on LI. After graduating from college, I went on to work as an elementary school teacher, a preschool teacher, an afterschool childcare provider, a Nanny, and a substitute teacher. Personal: My husband and I have three wonderful children, two girls and a boy ages 18, 20 and 23. When my children were younger I "worked" as a stay at home mom and I am still an active volunteer in the PTO, the Niskayuna Soccer club, and the HS Booster Club. I am a registered Adult Girl Scout and I have been a Girl Scout Leader for 14 years.

Philosophy: I believe in a developmental approach to teaching. I plan open-ended projects and activities that allow each child to work and progress at his/her own pace. Children need to be in a secure stimulating environment in order to grow and learn. I want my students to enjoy school, feel confident enough to participate in classroom activities, take risks, and to look forward to coming back each day. Preschool is the foundation of a child's education; it is the beginning of a lifelong process for learning.

Miss Jennie:

Jennie Mahony

Education: Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education, Minor in History The College of Saint Rose 2011.  I also hold an Associates of Science in Early Childhood Education, Maria College of Albany 2007.

Experience:  I’ve been around children for years, I have babysat since I was a teenager.   I was 14 years old when I became an aunt and was happy to help take care of my nephew for two in a half years.  At 18 years old I started working in a daycare, where most of the children I worked with were 18 months to 2 years old.  When I started college in 2005 I did field work working with children from the ages of 2 years of age and older.  In 2011 I did my last set of field work with 4 year old children.  I then had mine and my husband’s son.  I went back to working with children in a daycare setting after 8 months.  Initially, I was working with every age group and after a few months I started working primarily with children from 3 to 18 months old until I had my second child in 2013.   I was fortunate to have the opportunity to be home with my children and work from my home.  I cared for a friend’s 2 year old child in my home and we did art, outside, reading and singing activities.  We also took library trips during the week.

I am very excited to be a part of the Tumbling Tykes team of teachers for my second year!!!

Miss Alexis:

Hello everyone, my name is Alexis Waters.  I am excited to be joining the Tumbling Tykes team of teachers this Fall!  I have been working at Tumbling Tykes for the past 2 1/2 years hosting birthday parties and substituting in both the classrooms and summer camp program.  I have always loved working with children and always knew that someday I wanted to be an educator.  As soon as I was old enough I began babysitting and eventually began volunteering and working at an elementary school.  That's when I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in education!  I have recently received an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and am continuing my education online.  I am excited to be a part of your child's first school experience and look forward to a fun and exciting year of learning and having fun!!!

2 1/2 - 3 1/2 YEAR OLD, 3 -4 YEAR OLD CLASSES - Monday through Friday Mornings

Miss Kristen:

Hello, my name is Kristen Mazzanoble.  I have been working with and teaching children for the last 10 years and enjoy every minute!  I have two children of my own, Anthony who is 8 years old and Addison who is 4.  I am a new member of the Tumbling Tykes family and I am very excited about teaching with a great group of teachers!  I believe children learn best in a fun, loving, safe environment where they feel they can be 100 percent themselves.  Tumbling Tykes is the place where we provide that kind of environment!

Miss Connie:

My name is Connie Rumsey and I am very excited to be heading into my third year as part of the Tumbling Tykes family. I have been a stay at home mom for over 10 years to take care of my two boys. During that time I volunteered in many different positions at their elementary school. I ran the Preschool Story Hour program for two years and chaired other various programs that allowed me to work directly with both school staff and the kids. I have always loved working with children and being an intricate part of their development and growth which is why I looked to Tumbling Tykes for this employment opportunity. I look forward to working with your children and getting to know each and every one of their personalities. The preschool years are to be cherished as a child’s first venture into social and academic learning and I’m thrilled to be a part of creating those memories with them.

Miss Bianca:

Hello everyone!  My name is Bianca Traudt and I am excited to be part of the 3-4 year old program as a Teacher Assistant (TA)!  I have recently received my Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education and will be starting graduate school in the fall to receive a Master's in Literacy.  I have always enjoyed children and love teaching them new and exciting topics!  One of my favorite parts of teaching is not only learning more about the students, but about myself as an educator as well.  I look forward to meeting our new students and having a fun and successful year!
